Events Exploring Mindfulness & Metta Practice in a Jewish Context

May 27, 2007

with Rabbis Sheila Weinberg and Jeff Roth

at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies in Barre, MA

In this day-long workshop we explore the current renaissance of meditation in Jewish circles. Many of the practices have their origin in the experience of Jewish teachers whose practice was learned primarily in vipassana settings. We explore Jewish teachings that suggest the validity and compatibility of a synthesis of these two traditions. Through teachings, practice, questions and discussions participants can experience mindfulness and metta as practiced through the lens of contemporary Judaism.

$75 for the course; includes a delicious vegetarian lunch. Students are welcome to lodge the night before and/or the night after on the BCBS campus ($35/night).

This is a one day course. It will begin at 8:30am with check-in. The course formally starts at 9:30am. Lunch and afternoon tea provided. Day ends at 4:30 or 5:00pm. Please mail registration form (PDF) in advance to reserve your place. Visit the website of the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies for more information.

Her primary work is teaching mindfulness to rabbis, cantors, Jewish educators and community leaders. She was a co-facilitator of the Dharma and Torah program at BCBS in the early 90’s.
