...It's not that our outward lives are unimportant or unessential, but the real meaning [of our outer lives] we haven't yet really appreciated. We think we live in this one dimensional, small space between the moment of birth and the moment of death, which especially as you get older you realize what a small space of time that is and how little of that is left. It becomes more clear if 'that is all there is' then somehow none of this makes sense.
